Making Tax Digital services in Jarrow
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is now in effect for qualifying sole traders and landlords. If your qualifying income is over £50,000, you may now need to keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC using compatible software.
Findlay Todd can help you understand whether MTD applies to you, get your records and software in order, and manage your ongoing reporting requirements with confidence.
Making Tax Digital has changed how qualifying sole traders and landlords manage their Income Tax records. Instead of relying solely on the traditional annual Self Assessment process, those within MTD must maintain digital records and send updates of their self-employment or property income and expenses to HMRC every three months using compatible software.
The first MTD cohort began using the system in April 2026. If you are already affected, Findlay Todd can help you manage your ongoing requirements. If your qualifying income brings you into MTD from 2027 or 2028, we can help you prepare ahead of time.
Whether you’re a sole trader, landlord, or small business owner, our goal is to make digital compliance as simple as possible. We offer one-off setup packages or ongoing support that includes quarterly review meetings and year-end filings, ensuring every submission is accurate and on time.
We’ll take the stress out of these changes, leaving you free to focus on running your business or managing your properties, while we handle the compliance. With Findlay Todd by your side, Making Tax Digital doesn’t have to be complicated.
We start by reviewing your current bookkeeping process to see how ready you are for Making Tax Digital. Our accountants then help you choose and set up HMRC-approved software, usually Xero, which we recommend for its ease of use and full compatibility with MTD. Once connected, we guide you through submitting quarterly updates, reconciling data, and preparing adjustments at year-end. We can manage the entire process end-to-end, giving you confidence that everything is handled correctly. Alternatively, if you prefer a hands-on approach, we provide clear training so you can manage your digital record-keeping independently.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax changes how qualifying sole traders and landlords keep records and report information to HMRC. Instead of leaving everything until the end of the tax year, you will need suitable digital records and a system that supports the required submissions.
Findlay Todd can help you prepare before the changes affect you. We will review how you currently manage your records, identify what needs to change and help put the right digital bookkeeping and accounting processes in place.
Whether you already use accounting software or currently rely on spreadsheets and manual records, we can help make the move to Making Tax Digital straightforward and manageable.
Get your digital records organised and make sure your bookkeeping processes are ready for the new Making Tax Digital requirements.
We can help landlords move towards digital record keeping and manage the accounting information needed throughout the tax year.
We can review your current setup, check that your records are being maintained correctly and help you prepare for the reporting requirements ahead.
We don’t just work with numbers, we work with people. That’s why our clients trust us year after year. We build lasting relationships through consistent, high-quality support.

Daniel replied promptly and provided the help I was looking for in a way that made me feel reassured that I was communicating with someone who knows well their trade.
